Meet Dr. Perfecto, the librarian at Colby Glass that performs magic for the students who come into her library. Great literature can be found in every nook and cranny of the library. Sally and I loved her background in multicultural studies.

The students are so cute when they come up and join Sally and I to help with the kitchen activities. They learn all sorts of cultural cooking customs.
After our presentation to some very wonderful and respectful students, we packed up our traveling show and were reminded that there were only 13 days until Christmas! Dr. Perfectos' library was so festive and joyful!

Mc Andrew Elementary's author visit was on our last day of our whirlwind book tour for Library Services. It did not disappoint! We were greeted by familiar faces and we met new friends who will support Besties! The book tour was a tremendous success!

Walk into the Scottish castle and find many, many treasures. Books are always great gifts!
Besties has been blessed with meeting librarians who are 100% invested in their jobs. Sally and I have met many who are creative, organized, and love being a librarian. Ms. Liza Mireles is one of those special angels who creates a loving atmosphere for the students at McAndrew.

The students love being chosen to come up and participate in our presentation with the different activities. The molcajete has proven to be very popular.

Talk about being treated like rock stars! Hatchett Elementary rolled out the red carpet and made us feel like celebrities. Beautiful flowers and cards.

Hatchett's librarian, Jennifer Boan, is being added to a best friend status! She totally rocks in that library. Ms. Boan had us present to the second grade classes and they were eager to meet "real" authors! The students were focused and displayed outstanding audience manners. Besties had a delightful afternoon and we promised to visit again.

Meet one of our new best friends! Ms. Adrienne Kirk is the amazing librarian who hosted Besties and made sure she had every book we have published to share with the students! Ms. Kirk even gave books to the teachers so that they could enrich their classrooms with our stories.

Our Three Little Marranitos book and Menudo at Midnight are the two books that were presented to the 3rd and 4th graders.
Villarreal Elementary sure had the Christmas spirit! The students and staff were treated to some beautiful holiday displays by a very creative parent!

Besties enjoyed the whole day with the children and we loved visiting the campus during their Christmas Book Fair.

Sally and her daughter Geneva are good friends with Debra Pinon, the principal of Cable. It is so refreshing to meet administrators who create a postive atmosphere for their staff!

At Passmore Elementary it was all about the children! Passmore's librarian, Patricia Rodriguez, was not able to be in attendance, but the school staff stepped up to the plate and made us feel very welcome! The students were eager to have authors in the house and we had an entertaining afternoon.

Besties presented The Three Little Marranitos book to Pre-K through 1st grade and Menudo at Midnight to 2nd and 3rd grades. Incorporating interavtive activities during the presentation has proven to be such a success.

Northside that is bringing literature experiences to
the children.
Ms. Park has created a cozy library where we enjoyed presenting to the students in Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grades. We had so much fun with those little ones. Sally and I were able to meet up with a very good friend of ours, Ms. Delia Molina! She is a great teacher and parent!

My Twinkie, Mary Ann Felix, is now responsible for book sales whenever we are visiting schools. She knew Ms. Flores from their days at Baskin Elementary together. We live in a small world!

Besties began our book tour on Monday, December 8 and it would take us to nine schools in five days! We loved all the different Christmas trees.

Besties had the pleasure of presenting at Ott just before Thanksgiving Break and boy, did we have fun! The principal, Ms. Bueno, is a great friend of ours and we love visiting her school.

Thank you, Ms. Cynthia Molinar for inviting us to present to the third and fourth graders. Ms. Molinar is a wonderful and caring librarian who runs a tight ship. This young lady, Mavis, tugged at our heartstrings. She shared that after our first visit last year when we presented our first book, Menudo at Midnight, she had her mother buy a molcajete! Talk about a book making an impact. Wow!

The third grade students were able to hear our newest book, The Three Little Marranitos, and we were fortunate to have two sweet students participate in the poetry lesson and cooking lesson.
The fourth graders really stepped up to the plate when we asked a few to join us up front to dance to some conjunto music. We presented our Fiesta book and passed out sombreros and maracas. The children had a blast. So did I!

Besties had a fabulous day at Locke Hill Elementary with Mr. Tedesco! He invited us to present to the Second and Third Grade students and they were such an awesome group. We were impressed with their questions and comments. Thank you for letting us visit your school!
It is such a treat to have the students participate when we share our stories. For our book, The Three Little Marranitos , the children learned how to grate piloncillo, which is used in the recipe in the back of the book. The best part is when we bring out the molcajete and challenge the students to grind those spices to introduce the book, Menudo at Midnight!

Besties was very appreciative that Ms. Colwell was the first librarian in Northside to extend an invitation for an author visit this school year. The students were wonderful audience members and the teachers were awesome! It is so refreshing to have faculty members be great role models for their children. Besties love to go to our Northside schools and meet super, well behaved students! We love sharing our books and telling the stories of the Torres Family. My Twinkie, Mary Ann, is an important part of our business. She handles the sales of books, organizes the autograph session, and is our book editor.

Besties had the best day ever! Sally and I were invited by the Engineers to present to the first, second, and third grade classes. Boy, oh, boy! We met some fantastic students and teachers that put their best foot forward! Sally and I jumped on the train that is Martin and had a great ride! Thank you!
Our author visit to Martin was the last one of this magical journey and thanks to Mrs. Monica Sanchez, the librarian, and Mrs. Cindy Gibson, the school principal, it was an unforgettable one!

These are some of the awesome parents who were invited to a presentation of their own and they received us so warmly. Mrs. Gibson is so committed to parent involvement and this was an opportunity for us to speak to parents about the importance of reading to their children. This was a first for us and we'd love to see other schools invite their parents.
The parents were so focused on our presentation and we took every chance we could to support them with information to help their children succeed in school! We loved that the principal, Mrs. Gibson, gifted every parent who attended a copy of our book! Wow! They were so cute in line waiting to receive an autographed copy.
This was the first time that Besties gave out our new aprons to the students who earned a turn at the molcajete! It is our new marketing tool and it was a huge success!
Since I am a twin I have such a fondness for teachers who welcome them into their classroom. Thank you, Ms. Gomez!

Sally and I had a great time at Chumbley with the first, second, and third grade students. The children have a beautiful campus and an inspiring library. Thank you, Mrs. Kelly Torres, the super librarian, and Mr. Ramiro Salazar, second grade teacher, who hosted a great morning!
Besties presented, Cascarones and Chocolate Bunnies to the 1st and 3rd Graders.
The second grade classes were the first to hear our new book, Deep in the Heart of Fiesta: A Torres Family Tradition! We had a wonderful time at Chumbley and the students were great audience members.
